The YWCA Big Brothers, Big Sisters Program...

The YWCA NSW’s Big Brothers Big Sisters Program is a unique mentoring program which provides one-to-one friendship, support and guidance to children who could benefit from additional adult friendship. A fully trained and screened volunteer is matched with an individual child with whom they spend time with on a weekly basis. By forming a relationship with a responsible caring adult doing everyday activities, the child is able to explore different skills and experiences that increase their sense of self esteem, improve their relationships, develop their potential at home, school and in the community. The program is not designed to compete with the parent but rather to complement and positively assist in the child’s personal and social development.
